Pictures from cantonese opera magazine These kids performed in HK recently. According to the magazine the audience had a fun and hilarious time laughing and clapping away. I think the happiest people must be their parents.

so cute~ I love kiddy opera~
Hahha... reminds me of Guangdong rod puppets.. so cute!
So Cantonese opera is far from a dying art. These little kids are successors to the throne.
I think it won't die but will get fewer performers and less audience. Conditions in Singapore are less favourable than in HK though the scene is quite vibrant.
When the kids grow up they may not be so keen.
Quite true. At their age, they won't quite mind how other people look at them, but as they grow up and "understand" more about the world out there, they'll usually start to get embaressed when being teased about their passion for Chinese opera, and whether or not they'll quit Chinese opera for good is yet to be known..
